Aljazira Saudi Riyal Murabaha Fund is a Shariah-compliant open-ended public investment fund that invests in Murabaha transactions in commodity markets and in short-term money market instruments. Aljazira Capital (Aljazira Financial Markets Company) manages and operates the Fund. The Fund aims to preserve capital while achieving a competitive return relative to its benchmark at low risk, and to provide investors with liquidity within a short period.
The Fund invests in short-term, low-risk financial instruments, including Murabaha and variable-profit Murabaha contracts, Ijara, short-term securities, trade finance contracts, and low-risk treasury products, in addition to money market funds, Sukuk, and Sukuk funds. It deals with counterparties holding investment-grade credit ratings from accredited agencies such as Standard & Poor’s, Fitch, and Moody’s, or with unrated counterparties that are subject to the Fund Manager’s internal assessment and regulated by the Saudi Central Bank or an equivalent regulatory authority.
The allocation to Murabaha and variable-profit Murabaha contracts, Ijara, and similar low-risk instruments and funds ranges between 75% and 100% of the Fund’s assets. The allocation to Sukuk and Sukuk funds may reach a maximum of 25%, while cash and investments with a remaining maturity of no more than 7 days must be at least 10%. Sukuk investments with a single issuer may not exceed 15% of the Fund’s net assets, and investment in a single Sukuk may not exceed 10%. The single-Sukuk limit excludes Sukuk issued by the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the governments of OECD member countries, and GCC member states. The Fund’s investments with a single entity or group may not exceed 25% of its net assets, including money market transactions, securities, and bank deposits. Its investments in funds issued by a single capital market institution likewise may not exceed 25%.
The Fund’s benchmark is the Saudi Riyal one-month SAIBOR, the one-month lending rate among Saudi banks, with rates available on the Saudi Central Bank’s website. The Fund’s performance is measured by comparing its return with this rate, and its investments are denominated in Saudi Riyals and US Dollars.
